FAST STEP 3 use the Royce Institute at University of Sheffield to generate their near-net shape parts.

The UK National Institute for Advance Materials and Innovation known as the Henry Royce Institute is a partnership of nine leading institutions including the universities of Manchester, Cambridge, Imperial College London, Liverpool, Leeds, Oxford, Sheffield plus the National Nuclear Laboratory and UKAEA.   The Royce coordinates over 900 academics and over £300 million of facilities to produce a joined-up framework that can deliver beyond the current capabilities of the individual partners or research teams.

The initial components produced within the Fast Step 3 project have been produced on the small-scale FCT FAST furnace and later components will be produced on the new large-scale semi-continuous FAST furnace.
